Material Synthesis and Physical Chemistry

Design and development of Metal Organic Frameworks and/or Covalent Organic Frameworks
Dr. Giasemi Angeli, Associate Researcher
orcid googleholar

Dr Giasemi Angeli is leading the "Design and development of Metal Organic Frameworks and/or Covalent Organic Frameworks" activity within the Materials Synthesis and Physical Chemistry direction of the Theoretical and Physical Chemistry Institute. Our research concerns the design and synthesis of novel and appropriately functionalized porous frameworks targeting cutting edge applications. Our objective is through Reticular Chemistry implementation to synthesize functional porous materials with tailored physicochemical characteristics aiming to contribute to the transition from traditional fossil fuels to more environmentally friendly sources as well as to the quality improvement of urban air and water. Our work includes the design and synthesis of functionalized linkers as well as the synthesis of porous frameworks as well as appropriately designed porous composite materials using solvothermal synthetic procedures assisted by a wide range of post synthetic modification approaches. Furthermore, our research interests include the detailed characterization of the synthesized materials regarding their structural and physicochemical characteristics using state-of-the art methods, as crystallography, porosimetry and electron Microscopy.
